Dick was born July 1, 1947 in Spokane to Edward “Ted” and Doris (Boyd) Morse. He passed away on November 29, 2017. Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Mary (Carr) Morse. He is survived by his son from his first marriage, James (Crystal) Morse; grandchildren, Carson Morse and Calissa Morse; brother, David (Lea) Morse; sister, Donna Strawn; niece, Mikayla Morse; and nephews, Matthew Morse, Nicholas Morse, Daniel Strawn, and Kevin Strawn. Dick graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and attended Gonzaga University before serving in the U.S. Navy. He spent his entire working career at the family owned business Jensen-Byrd Co. dba Jensen Distribution Services. He started working summers in the warehouse, worked on the order desk, was an outside salesman, then spent years as a buyer, eventually becoming the VP of Purchasing. Dick retired at the age of 50 and spent time with his many friends at Manito Golf and Country Club playing golf as well as playing the “occasional” card game. Dick, known as “Beado” by many Manito friends, had five holes-in-one including one at the 17th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links. His other interests included military history, science, aviation, and coin collecting. He was a big baseball fan, following the Mariners and Dodgers, as well as a Gonzaga basketball fan. The family is having a private burial service. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held Wednesday, December 20, 5:00 p.m. at Manito Golf and Country Club, 5303 S. Hatch Road, Spokane, WA 99223. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society.
