GRAY, Lawrence Kenneth

After fighting cancer for
several years, Larry died
suddenly and peacefully at
home. Larry was born on
April 24, 1947 to Lawrence
and Agnes Gray in Moscow,
Idaho. The family moved to
Spokane not long after
Larry was born. He attended
Grant Elementary school for
8 years. After elementary
school he attended Lewis and Clark High School for the next 4 years. While there he enjoyed playing football as a guard and was on the City championship LC Tiger team in 1965.
After high school he attended the University of Washington for one year and then went on to graduate from Eastern Washington University. In November of 1969 he was drafted and served in the Army. Larry was stationed in Okinawa as an MP and was discharged in September of 1971. After the service he moved to Seattle and started working for NC Marine and became an expert working on the mechanical end of fishing boat engines and gears.
He retired in 2000 and started Gray Marine Services where he repaired and/or built engines for fishing vessels. In 2006 Larry returned to Spokane. He started having an annual Salmon BBQ that many of his friends looked forward to attending. He still continued to go to Alaska for a few months every year until 2008 when he built his dream home. He loved working in his garden, traveling to Arizona in the winter, traveling around the Northwest finding new things to explore, hunting birds and fishing in the local lakes. He was preceded in death by his sister Loretta in 1969, his beloved dad in 2002 and his mom in 2011. He will be missed by his numerous friends who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1 pm at the Red Lion River Inn on North Division in Spokane.
