Janice Laraine Davidson (Ryan)
September 5, 1947 - September 9, 2023

Janice "Jan" Laraine Davidson Ryan was born on September 5, 1947 in Wellington, New Zealand, to her English father Bernard Hugh Davidson of Wellington, New Zealand, and her American mother Phyllis Lorraine Palmquist Davidson of Spokane, Washington. In 1953, Jan's parents moved the family to Spokane where Jan lived the rest of her life.

Jan and her three sisters all attended Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane. Jan graduated in 1965.

Jan went on to have two children whom she raised as a single working mother. While raising her children, Jan studied at Spokane Community College. In 1976 Jan earned an AA degree in Architectural Drafting, and in 1978 she earned a diploma in the college's Horticulture program. In 2006 Jan earned a Certificate of Achievement at the Floral Design Institute of Seattle.

Jan officially retired from the workforce in 2018 after lifelong service in the food and beverage industry and in the hospitality industry. Her last place of employment was at Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Washington.

Only two weeks after the discovery of a sudden onset of an aggressive form of cancer on the peritoneum, and only four days after celebrating her 76th birthday, Jan passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Jan is survived by her two children: Shanni Steik and David Harker; her three sisters: Dawn Hall, Alison Davidson, and Lori Davidson; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Jan was a lover of books and plants. All her life, Jan cultivated a home library comprised of rows and rows of books on numerous bookshelves throughout the house. Jan also surrounded herself with a plethora of houseplants and garnered the unmatched reputation for growing all forms of plants successfully (when no one else could) in and around her home. Jan's family is convinced that God has given her a sunny greenhouse to tend to where she can bask in the love and glory of our Great Father in Heaven for as long as she wishes from this point forward.
