James Evan Porter, 69, passed away December 22, 2016.
James was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Spokane on September 20, 1947, to Raymond Stanley Porter and Beverly Ruth McNally Porter Simmons, who are descendants of Wasankari and McNally pioneers. It is evident that James was drawn to the water from an early age, his love of boats and fishing were woven throughout his life. He studied fisheries at Peninsula College. His passions took him to become a researcher for the International Halibut Association, and owner of the FV Janet F, and captain of the FV Collette and FV Maranatha. He was also the owner of the SV Coming Thru. James had many passions including sailing, mentoring fellow sailors, computer programing and loving his family. James was an online member of the South Beach Church in Oregon. James married Ginnie Sue Willams on August 4, 1968. They were married until April 1976. During that time, they had two wonderful sons. James was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Porter, and his sister, Joy Carlson. James is survived by his mother, Beverly Ruth McNally Porter Simmons, and his sons, Joshua James Kahlil (Denise) Porter, and Justin Williams Porter; cousin (more like abrother) Lloyd Huff and aunt Joan McNally Quigley; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held at a later date. |
