Charles Lincoln GAYLORD
1947 - 2022 Charles Lincoln Gaylord was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane on July 24, 1947, to Frank and Dorothy Gaylord. After a long struggle with lung disease, he passed away at home on February 17, 2022, surrounded by his family. Chuck went to Lewis and Clark High School and Eastern Washington University where he received a degree in sociology and psychology in 1969. He was married for 21 years to the love of his life, Deloris. She preceded him in death in May 2020. Chuck loved kids. He worked at a group home after college, worked with Big Brothers, and was a Guardian Ad Litem for the Spokane juvenile court. He owned his own sports memorabilia business for many years. He loved softball, old cars, and antiques. Chuck is in the Inland Empire Softball Hall of Fame and threw the only no-hitter in a National Softball Qualifying tournament in Spokane. The Wanderers Car Club was also a big part of his life. He and Deloris spent a lot of time at car shows with his 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix convertible and his 1941 Packard convertible. Chuck was well known for his expertise in sports memorabilia, cars, and coins. Chuck cherished his friends and family and was always willing to help someone in need. To know him was to love him. Spokane will not be the same without Chuck! He is survived by his sisters Sue Patneaude, Sally Brand (Scott), brother Linc (Della), and by his sons Sean, Rich (Becci), Rob (Jen), and Chuck Jr. and several grandchildren. Chuck had one daughter, Michelle, who died in infancy.
