STEVENS, Kathleen Mary

Kathleen was born on September 6, 1947, and died peacefully in her sleep on June 26, 2016 after a long illness. Kathleen was a food connoisseur, an accomplished cook, a talented seamstress. She loved music. She was a social justice advocate, working to overcome discrimination, stigma and lack of power for persons in all walks of life. Her employment included child care, teaching English at Spokane Community College, directing Peaceful Valley Community Center, and working for the Health Improvement Partnership. She served on the Logan Neighborhood Council and was an active member of St. Aloysius church for many years. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, William Goodwin Stevens and Bonnie Jean (Roskam) Stevens, and her sister Jan (Stevens) Marshall. She is survived by her sisters, Susan (Mark) Faulner, and BonnieAnn Stevens, beloved niece Emma, beloved nephew David, brother-in-law Jim, several friends, staff of Sunshine Gardens, and children whom she loved: Peter, Jerusha, Helen, Mindy, Joe, Mike, David, and more. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church on Friday, September 2, 2016, at 11 am.
